MAJOR EXHIBITION

STEPPING UP THE PACE

As the project moves into its fifth year, we would like to take this opportunity to send warmest thanks to all our supporters who have helped by contributing their time, expertise or financial help.

We have now got a nationally and internationally recognised project. Lynn Weddle, one of our first volunteers, has now taken over the day-to-day management of the project. Lynn’s experience of project management and ability to work creatively even in extreme conditions is a great asset.

To date over 300 street working children and 35 children who live and work in the banana plantations in Ecuador have benefited from participating in engaging art projects.

NEW PROJECTS & MAJOR EXHIBITION

We currently have two new art project workers in Ecuador, theatre youth worker Hannah Whelan and visual artist Emily Wood. They are currently running drawing classes, working on a photo project with a group of teenagers about identity and creating a drama performance piece based on local folklore. The children and young person’s work will culminate in at exhibition at Museum of Contemporary Art and Anthropology (MAAC), Guyaquil, Ecuador in March 2008.

Please see what’s happening in Ecuador on the project right now, by visiting Emily’s blog: www.emilyawood.multiply.com

BIG THANK YOU’S TO EMILY AND HANNAH FOR ALL THEIR DEDICATION AND PASSION

WELCOMES & MEXICO

WELCOME BACK VICKY

In April Vicky Jowett will be returning to work with CMAP and will be running workshops in Isla Trinitria and Fortin. She is back after a few months back in the UK. Wishing you a warm welcome back, Vicky!

“Working on the art project has been by far the most amazing experience of my life. Living in Ecuador, working with the kids, experiencing a different culture and giving something back at the same time! I have found my vocation! I loved working on the project so much I am staying in Ecuador and wish to carry on being part of the project.”

Vicky Jowett, 2007

Vicky has plans to develop the children’s drawings skills alongside working with fabric to produce a series of seasonal images that can be used within a calendar for valuable fund raising to keep the project running. Watch this space to order your copy!

SISTER PROJECT SET UP - MEXICO

As well as continuing the work we do in Ecuador we have been in discussion with Juconi, Mexico and we will be establishing links with them to set up an art project, commencing in late 2008.
